Brad Oberhofer’s roots lie in Tacoma, Washington, although he formed Oberhofer (the band) after choosing to attend NYU to study music composition. The band tours as a four-piece ensemble; however, the name remains Oberhofer as Brad both writes and records all the music himself. This has been a big year for Oberhofer having released its first LP Time Capsules II in late March of 2012 and touring across the states playing both local venues and major music festivals. Check for them in your area if you enjoy the tracks below…
Oberhofer – Dead Girls Dance
Oberhofer – Away FRM U
Oberhofer – I Could Go

Pronounced Alt-j, these are the two keys that create a delta (∆) symbol (at least on a mac). The UK bands song “Fitzpleasure” popped up in my chat window a couple weeks back, sent from an equally musically enthused work colleague. The band met while studying at Leeds University in 2007 and has now begun to emerge from its small cult following developed primarily in the UK. Alt-J is pretty excellent in my opinion, a definite flavor of unique that isn’t that easy to find these days. Check out the three tracks served up via SoundCloud (below).
